Attribute Accuracy There is only one attribute, bedrock surface elevation. The accuracy of this elevation data is unknown, but cannot be assumed to be more accurate than the elevation of the 50-foot elevation contour data from which is was derived.
Logical Consistency The data are logically consistent
Completeness The data are complete for the seven-county Twin Cities Metropolitan Area.
Horizontal Positional Accuracy Unknown, but cannot be assumed to be more accurate than the position of the 50-foot elevation contour data from which is was derived.
Vertical Positional Accuracy Unknown, but cannot be assumed to be more accurate than the elevation of the 50-foot elevation contour data from which is was derived. Probably +/- one-half of the contour interval (25 ft).
Lineage The elevation data contained in this raster dataset were interpolated from 50-foot bedrock surface elevation contours obtained from the Minnesota Geological Survey using ANUDEM.

ANUDEM was developed by M.F. Hutchinson at the Australian National University. This program calculates values on a regular grid of a discretized smooth surface fitted to a large number of irregularly spaced elevation data points and contour lines. The program automatically removes spurious sinks were possible.

In some regions, the interpolation overshoots the elevation, particularly in the case of exposed or very shallow bedrock plateaus. These areas were identified by creating a difference grid between the bedrock and surface elevation grids. All areas in the bedrock DEM where the depth to bedrock was found to be less than zero were re-coded to have a bedrock elevation equal to the surface elevation (for example the Mpls. - St. Paul Airport).
